The Baltic Lion is the biggest ship I’ve ever sailed on. It’s also the first ship I’ve sailed on as third mate.
At 298 metres long, 47 metres wide, & a loaded weight of 179,000 tonnes, it’s an enormous challenge to navigate through dense fishing traffic like that in the south of the Philippines and the South China Sea. Nonetheless, this is a requirement of the job and so it has to be done. This experience has been one of the most enjoyable experiences so far in my career. Although we spent a great portion of the voyage at anchor, the scenery has been truely spectacular. Just check out the pictures below.
